TSNS Scholarship for ANA Summer Seminar
The Tennessee State Numismatic Society (TSNS) will be accepting applications for one scholarship for the American Numismatic Association (ANA) Summer Seminar. The scholarship will pay up to $1000 toward the cost of tuition, room and board and travel. This amount will cover nearly all costs.
The Summer Seminar is held on the Colorado College campus in Colorado Springs for a week in late June or early July. A wide and varied selection of classes is offered for the beginner to the advanced collector. In addition to the daily classes, there are evening mini-seminars available and informative numismatic presentations and discussions. Details of the seminar are on the ANA website.
To obtain an application for the scholarship write to the TSNS Scholarship Chairman, PO Box 2066, Douglasville, GA 30133 or down load if from this web site. Request a junior scholarship form if you are 13-22 years old and a senior scholarship form if you are 23 years old or over. You must be a member of TSNS to be eligible for the scholarship and you will need to join ANA.
The TSNS scholarship committee will select the recipient based on demonstrated interest and ability in sharing knowledge through one or more of the following:
a. Giving presentations to non-numismatic entities, such as schools, community service groups, Boy/Girl Scouts, etc.
b. Presenting programs at coin clubs or coin shows. Exhibiting at local, state or national shows.
c. Writing articles for local, regional, or national numismatic publications.
d. Serving in leadership positions for local, state or national clubs, or volunteering to help insure a successful coin club or coin show.
The winner agrees to submit an article to TennCoin for publication about your experiences at the Summer Seminar.
Application forms and other information required must be received by December 31st. Send the application and forms to TSNS Scholarship Chairman, P.O. Box 2066, Douglasville, GA 30133. The recipient of the scholarship will be contacted by January 31st of next year.
No applications were submitted for the scholarship for 2006 summer seminar. The TSNS board decided to award the 2006 scholarship to Bob Hartje for his work with the young numismatist in the grade school coin club he formed and led and for his leadership in the YN program at each TSNS conventionon.
